“… who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.” – Heb. 1:3
The picture of our Lord Jesus Christ holding all things together is such a blessing. When it’s difficult for us to keep it together, we can trust Jesus is keeping us together. He upholds all things by the word of His power. We can we stand in the power of the Word.
Upholding is to bear and to carry. Jesus holds us up and keeps us in Him. We are in His hands, and no one can snatch us out of His hands. When circumstances cause things to fall apart in our lives, we reach out to Him to put it back together. When the battle in our mind intensifies, we receive His peace. Divisions try to separate us from Him, but to no avail!
Jesus radiates the glory of the Father and expresses His image. As we are being transformed into His image, we also radiate His glory and represent Him in every place. The things that come to break us make us stronger in Christ. When we are too weak to hold on to Him, we can trust He is holding on to us, and upholding all things, from glory to glory!
