However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.- John 16:13.

To recognize means to identify someone or something from a previous encounter; to know again. It also means to identify from knowledge of appearance or character. The anointing is the manifestation of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, the more we know the Holy Spirit, the easier it is to identify what is anointed: what comes from the Holy Spirit.

We develop our relationship with the Holy Spirit by spending time in fellowship, prayer and worship. We learn to know His voice through our reading and hearing the Word of God. As born-again believers, we have the Holy Spirit in us; therefore, the anointing is in us, and bears witness from within. We become acquainted with the peace that accompanies His guidance.

Many times, we will find ourselves in a situation when some people are doing things of the flesh… and others by the spirit. As we identify what is of the flesh, we recognize we are being led by the Holy Spirit and could not have known without the presence of both the truth and the lies. We learn to pay attention to His leading and trust Him, keeping our eyes on Him, and Him alone, from glory to glory!
