Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.- 1 John 4:1
Because we have the Spirit of God dwelling in us, we can test the spirits that we encounter. It’s not only what comes through others that we are to test but also what comes into our own mind. To test the spirits, we ask, “Is that you, Lord,” and wait for the answer. With the Spirit of God comes perfect peace, joy, and wisdom.
As we test a thought, we take it captive for examination or rebuke, in the name of Jesus. Because there may be many thoughts to consider, we must intensify our pressing through to get to a breakthrough. The most challenging is what is not obvious because it appears to be great, but is not God’s best.
The key is in our heart of obedience. We seek to obey God and walk in His perfect will. By submitting ourselves to the Lord daily and relying on the Holy Spirit to guide us towards the truth, we capture every thought. We find that some battles in our minds are no longer present. We move forward, from glory to glory!
