Self-offense

Self-offense

Do we ever feel like we shouldn’t have done this, or said that? The offense least confronted is the offense we have with self. We often judge, convict, and declare ourselves guilty when the Lord has already declared us innocent. We are free from self-condemnation in Christ Jesus. This freedom helps us walk free from addiction, low self-esteem, and many other issues.

When the Holy Spirit convicts us of something that needs to change in our ways, He comes with healing and comfort. God frees those He forgives. Satan accuses us and wants us to agree with his lies. In Christ, we are free from the accusations, insecurities, and lies that caused us to become stuck. We are no longer bound to anything that tries to hold us down.

We can trust what Christ has done. We don’t have to deal with what Jesus has already dealt with on the cross. God sees us clothed with the righteousness we have in Christ, not with filthy rags. Let’s not accuse ourselves; God has declared us not guilty! We seek and set our minds on the things of the Spirit, not on flesh, from glory to glory!

Romans 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”

If Only

If Only

Regrets brings despair, sorrow, and hopelessness. We battle thoughts of defeat, if only I had not done that; if only I had handled that better; if only I had not missed that opportunity, if only … When we dwell on our pasts, we get stuck in places we no longer occupy. Recalling God’s faithfulness brings encouragement and empowerment.

When the Spirit of God convicts us of yesterday’s errors, He does it with love and healing. He leads us to repent and to move forward. When satan condemns us, he brings shame and condemnation which hinders our progress. Receiving God’s forgiveness, and forgiving ourselves, produces freedom. It might take time, but God carries us through the process with care and patience.

As a new creation in Christ Jesus, we walk free from our past. Our story of redemption replaces our history of regrets. By God’s grace, we make the most out of today. By His mercy, new mistakes are covered by His blood. When we stay present in our tasks and relationships, we find peace and rest, from glory to glory!
