Facing Tragedy

Facing Tragedy

What should we do in the face of tragedy? When evil roars and fear knocks at our doors, should we strike back? How do we stop anger from turning into rage, or guard our hearts from becoming bitter? How do we remain loving and forgiving? Traumas push us into a dark corner that only Jesus can bring us out of.

When our hearts are overwhelmed with grief, sorrow or pain, nothing makes sense. Simple tasks in our daily activities challenge our ability to function normally. We find keeping a routine is difficult, yet we know it’s imperative that we do so. In those times of desperation, we cry out to God, pressing through feelings of depression and helplessness. The Spirit of Christ knows how to move upon us to reach out to the rock who is higher than we are, Jesus!

A child in trouble looks to someone bigger to rescue him. We go to the Lord, trusting His ability to intervene and move miraculously. He takes us higher in Him so we can see with His eyes of hope; think with His thoughts of good and not evil; feel His never-ending unconditional love; and rest in His merciful plan. He truly is the Rock of our salvation, from glory to glory!

Psalms 61:1-2 “Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”
