As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. – Ps. 42:1
When a deer is pursued by hunters, it instinctively seeks refuge in the river, racing to its banks. He then swims until the waters submerge him, concealing its scent from the hounds. Similarly, our soul yearns for God’s presence. In both known and unknown battles, we should run to the Lord, earnestly seeking Him.
God deepens our longing for Him, allowing us to be increasingly immersed and abide in His presence. Meanwhile, our adversary intensifies his fiery attacks, attempting to switch our focus to his evil presence. Let’s discern his tactics and yield to God’s ways.
In God’s presence, we find protection, power, and provision. As we continually praise the Lord, trusting that He quenches our thirst and keeps us deep in the river of His glory, He protects us from our enemies. Our ultimate desire is for an outpouring of God’s spirit. Deep calls unto deep!
We rest securely in Him. He is our hiding place. In His dwelling places, there is fullness of joy. God’s presence shields us from the presence of evil, allowing the fragrance of Christ to grow stronger, causing the enemy to flee. Let’s pursue more of Christ, from glory to glory!
