Glory to God

Glory to God

So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. – Luke 17:14-16 nkjv.

Out of the ten lepers, only one, a foreigner, returned to give glory to God. This prompts us to reflect: are we like the one who returned in gratitude, or like the nine who did not? To be thankful increases or faith in God and His promises while enabling us to be content in all things.

Satan tries to get us to focus on our unanswered prayers instead of being grateful for the answered ones. He knows that our gratitude ignites praise and shifts negative attitudes. We cannot thank God and complain to Him at the same time. Giving thanks, not just to God, but to others, helps us appreciate God’s blessings and keep anger and strife out of our hearts.

The list of God’s blessings in our lives is endless! Even after years of walking with the Lord, our sense of gratitude should remain as profound as it was in the beginning. We are called to cultivate an attitude of gratitude, focusing not on what we lack but on the God who is more than enough. In this spirit, our prayers naturally transform into praises,  from glory to glory!
