Now after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying, “Thus the Lord has dealt with me, in the days when He looked on me, to take away my reproach among people.– Luke 1:24-25 nkjv.
Elizabeth hid herself during the first five months of her miraculous pregnancy. Only when her expectation became clear, did she come out of hiding. Because of her old age, she knew people wouldn’t believe God was blessing her with a child and would mock her if she shared. The intensity of the joy and excitement she felt was such she wouldn’t be able to keep it to herself.
There is a time between sowing and reaping when God keeps us hidden in order to protect the growth of what He has planted within us. Has God shown us part of His plan and it hasn’t come to pass yet? Have we told others what He said, and nothing shows? Declared words of faith to no avail? During such times, we might feel invisible and ineffective and think, “what is really happening?”
As we delight ourselves in the Lord, He places desires in our hearts. Our exultation might cause us to share with others too soon. Let us seek the Lord and understand His process as He watches over His word to perform it. We are pregnant with greatness. We can rest assured a season of showing forth God’s wonderful works will come, from glory to glory!
