Be of Good Cheer!

Be of Good Cheer!

Various trials can suddenly shake our lives. Amid tribulation, the Spirit of God stirs us up to be of good cheer because Jesus has overcomethe world. Only by His grace can we put that thought into action. We might read Psalms 23, Psalms 91, or other scriptures in the Bible with tears running down our cheeks, but we press through to hear His Word and praise Him.

When dealing with hardships, our hearts are heavy, but it propelled us to reach for the garment of praise, which supernaturally removes the spirit of heaviness. As we proceed, comfort and hope arise in our souls. A joy and peace that passes all understanding fills us. Tears and fears truly disappear in the presence of the Lord.

Praising the Lord dispels the darkness, comforts and encourages us. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. When we express joy by God’s grace, we bring the breaking of dawn to our night season. It’s not the joy known in the natural. It’s the fruit of the Holy Spirit, our comforter. During our tears, we keep our cheers, from glory to glory!

John 16:33 “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Cheer Leaders or Fear Leaders

Cheer Leaders or Fear Leaders

Jesus tells us to be of good cheer amid tribulations because He has overcome the world. He also calls us to cheer others, as we share His love, life and light. The Spirit of God encourages, edifies, and exhorts. One tactic of satan, our adversary, is to use fear leaders to hinder our victorious walk. God is helping us be cheer leaders, no matter the opposition.

A cheer leader stirs up the things of the spirit; a fear leader the things of the flesh. He rejoices in the fruit of transformation, even if small; not constantly complaining about the lack. He stands on what the Word of God says about his identity; not in adverse circumstances. A cheer leader reminds others to focus on the Lord, not on themselves or others. He rejoices, always.

It is by being cheer leaders that we oppose fear leaders. When others do not receive our cheers, we trust the Lord with His workings, and shake the dust off our feet. We do not let the fear leaders quench our joy and peace. When we ourselves battle fear, we run to Jesus, release it at His feet, and rest in Him, from glory to glory!
