Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, ‘Lazarus, come forth!’ And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with grave clothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, ‘Loose him, and let him go.’ – John 11:43-44
Our spiritual progress often encounters obstruction from our adversary, satan. This hindrance becomes clear when we find ourselves unable to engage in prayer, worship, or Scripture reading, despite a deep longing to do so. In these moments, there seems to be no tangible reason for our incapacity. We find ourselves inexplicably held back, leaving us baffled and questioning why.
We may look for reasons in our hearts wondering if there is anything wrong with us, sensing we are powerless and not seeing clearly what we are fighting. This is when we need to press through with our whole heart, mind, and strength. The Spirit of God helps us as we refuse to allow this hindering spirit to block us any longer, and take a step we cannot take in our own strength.
This pressing through requires faith and a determination to advance despite the barriers. By submitting ourselves to the Lord and resisting the enemy with every ounce of our being, we start the first step. Once we do, the shackles fall, and we are free to go deeper and reach what the enemy was trying to keep us from. Let’s deal with obstructions by stepping forward, in Jesus’ name, from glory to glory!
