Fiery Darts

Fiery darts are flaming arrows, coming at us like missiles, to inflame us. They come in various ways. A negative, critical, dark thought drops into our minds unexpectedly. An interaction with someone brings an offense. A trial we usually handle with grace throws us into a desperate state. Our faith in who Christ is and what He has done shields us from these attacks.   

God uses every fiery dart that comes against us to empower us to exercise our faith in Him. The more the attacks, the more our faith grows and the more impact we have against the kingdom of darkness. During these times, God prepares us to overcome future opponents, regardless of what they are, from faith to faith!  

Because we are advancing the Kingdom, our adversary attempts to cause us to be ineffective. However, the opposite happens: the fire of the Holy Spirit increases in and through our lives. We put on Christ, appropriating our shining armor. We stand and extinguish all the fiery darts, walking victoriously,  from glory to glory!   

Ephesians 6:16 “above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.”

The Power of Unity

Fiery darts come from all directions, and sometimes with great speed, but they come to nothing when they meet our shields of faith. The Lord anoints our shields individually and then places ours next to others because we can do greater works in one accord. Our unity is powerful in Christ.

In the battlefield, the enemies shot arrows at the Roman soldiers and above them. Their shields were four feet by two feet. The front row would hold their shields side by side for protection then others would hold their shields over their heads above all, to form a roof of protection. We stand side by side through our prayers, in one accord, and by faith.

The Holy Spirit brings unity among members so the Body can move effectively to enforce the victory of Christ. Our shield of faith, individually and corporately, is positioned to quench all the fiery darts of the enemy. Faith without works is dead, but faith with works is alive, powerful and moves mountains. We are protected, provided for, positioned and powerful in Christ, from glory to glory!
