Controlling?

Controlling?

Controlling others gives people a false sense of value and helps them deal with their own insecurities and fear of failure. They assume that when they dictate to others, they keep the upper hand and are guarded from unpleasant surprises and repeated hardship. They try to get things to go their way, trusting it is the best way and the only way things should be done.

As we submit to the authority of God, we receive healing from the damaging effects of controlling spirits. The Spirit of God reveals these areas to us and helps us recognize and minister to others, as He leads. We learn to forgive and set healthy boundaries. When they are not respected, we continue to pray and trust the Lord’s ruling in our hearts.

Only in Christ can we have safety, regain trust, and learn to love and be loved in a healthy way. The more we surrender to the Lord, the more we relinquish all control to Him, and the more we are free from any abusive control of others. Under the influence of the Spirit of God, we respect the right authority. We can let go and let God be and do the impossible, from glory to glory!

1 Peter 5:5 “Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for ‘God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’”
