Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. – 1 Peter 5:8-10
We resist satan by remaining steadfast in our faith. Our faith does not vary based on our circumstances, but is constant through all unexpected trials. Our adversary sends fiery darts our way to tempt us to no longer believe in the promises of God. To be stable in what we believe, regardless of feelings, hurts, and pains we all experience from time to time, is a mighty weapon.
The victory of Christ defeated the devil on the cross. We do not re-defeat the enemy; we release and re-enforce what Christ has accomplished so perfectly. When we run to the Lord, our adversary must flee. Our enemy’s plan is to get us to run away from the Lord, but the opposite happens. Not only do we run to the Lord, but our steadfastness in Him increases.
We confront the enemy and take authority over his destructive ways in the name of Jesus. Our faith rebukes fear. Standing immovable moves the enemy away from our place of victory. We are truly more than conquerors in Christ Jesus. We are champions because of the greater one who lives in us, from glory to glory!
