We seek spiritual food before physical or emotional food. Even though our spiritual hunger is the most important, it is often neglected. We are to seek the Kingdom first and His righteousness. To seek means to crave, go after someone or something with an intense desire. When we have a need in the natural, it defies logic to look for a spiritual answer, yet it is what fulfills us in every area.
The Kingdom is the realm where Jesus Christ rules. When we seek His leadership, we come under His authority and directives. He leads us to His provisions with love and care. Our need of Him is greater than our need for anything else. The key is to seek His righteousness, not ours.
Looking at our own righteousness hinders us from abiding in His. We realize our unworthiness, our falling short of His glory, and question whether we deserve to have Him to meet our needs. His Kingdom and His righteousness go hand in hand. We are in right standing with God because of what Jesus Christ has done for us on the cross. This reality leads us to rest in Him. We can trust His provisions because of our position in Him. God honors our hunger for Him, from glory to glory.
Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
