In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. – Eph. 1:13-14 NKJV
Sealed means stamped for security or preservation. It is a guarantee, a pledge of God’s commitment to complete His work in us. It’s also a deposit securing what is to occur. When we are born again, the Holy Spirit seals us. Much more is to come to the praise of His glory!
Before selling their merchandise, merchants were to examine each item with scrutiny for any damages or defects. When they were 100% confident that they were in excellent condition, they would set their seal on it to prove they had inspected, approved, and could deliver the products. It showed ownership. The seal of the Holy Spirit on our lives confirms we are accepted, redeemed, saved, healed, and delivered.
Past circumstances might have placed a label on us, but in Christ, all wrong labels are removed and replaced with the only one that matters: God’s property. Our belonging assures our destination and enable us to go through ordeals. Nothing and no one can remove this seal, and they cannot put another mark on us. We belong to the Lord Jesus Christ. We are His and are safe in His hands. In every place, His glory shines, from glory to glory!
