Who is speaking? God, satan, others or ourselves? We discern the voice of God as we know Him more and more. We recognize what doesn’t align with His character. As our personal relationship with Him progresses, we become acquainted with His voice. We ask ourselves, what would Jesus say? Is this voice leading to fear or faith? Hope or despair?

God’s voice always encourages, edifies, and exhorts. His word of life lifts us up. The Holy Spirit convicts us with love and draws us closer to the Lord. He never pushes us away. The voice of the enemy brings us down and condemns us, drawing us away from our victorious place in God. He always tears us down and speaks lies about who God is and who we are.

The Lord is our Good Shepherd. As His sheep, we know His voice and follow Him. The problem is that too many other voices try to silence His. Spending time in the Word of God, in worship and in prayer, helps us distinguish His voice from all the others, walk by faith, stay close to our Shepherd and run away from a stranger, from glory to glory!

John 10:27 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”
