On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, ‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ – John 7:37-38
When we experience the rivers of living water, the move of the Holy Spirit, in and through us, it can be likened to when an expecting mother feels the baby kicking in her womb. At that stage of her pregnancy, the mother’s excitement increases because the kicking confirms the life she carries. It confirms our salvation and the reality of the Holy Spirit living in our hearts.
We learn to recognize His glorious flow. We feel this kicking happen when we sense things are finally moving; when what we carry feels the most alive. The Spirit leaps within at the sound of a scripture or a confirming word, at a worship song, or when a door opens or closes. Witnessing in our spirit stirs up rivers of excitement. It births shouts of praise and elevates our faith to the reality of His presence.
It also happens when our flesh wars against the spirit, and our adversary throws the most fiery darts. We feel uncomfortable. It is during these trying moments that the spirit moves the most to strengthen us. Battles become confirmation of the soon coming manifestation of what God has purposed. Let’s trust and follow His flow, from glory to glory!
