You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah. – Psalm 32:7

A misunderstanding, an offense, harsh spoken words and suddenly someone’s anger rises to an unexpected level. That person grabs a knife and holds it high; a scream …then silence. He throws the knife on the ground, and runs, runs, runs until he cannot run any longer. He dropped to his knees, praying, “Lord, what came over me? Please take this temper away! Help me Lord!”

It may not be to this extreme that anger, bitterness, envy, or any other works of the flesh manifest, but it is a battle that is all too familiar. When it does, we feel so unworthy. We find ourselves embarrassed over things we have said or done. Shame, guilt, and grief overwhelm our souls. In those times, our flesh tries to hide from God, but to no avail. It’s only in God that we can hide.

When we cry out to God, we find He is a very present help in trouble. We submit our weaknesses to Him and receive His strength. It’s supernatural and amazing how God touches and changes us. We are in Christ, our hiding place. There is comfort, protection, and deliverance. Instead of the flesh taking over, God takes over, from glory to glory!
