Jesus could not do many mighty works in His own town because those who knew him in the natural didn’t receive Him walking in the supernatural. The same can happen to us as we walk in the newness of life we have in Christ. Familiarity brings unbelief and rejection. When we walk in who we are in Christ to do His works, His will and His way, others may get offended.
People may reject who we are in Christ because they know who we were before we received Christ as Lord and Savior. Obeying the leading of the Lord and stepping forth in His name may be perplexing, even offensive, for those closest to us. With the love of God, we can understand and forgive what may be unknown to them. If we don’t, it will hinder our walk in the spirit.
Offense often quenches the manifestation of Christ. Only the Holy Spirit can reveal who we are in Christ and remove rejection and unbelief. He enables us to continue our ministry of reconciliation regardless of the responses we get. We obey the leading of the Spirit of God and never base the fruit on what we see, but on who we know, Jesus, from glory to glory!
Matthew 13:57-58 “So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, ‘A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.’ Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.”
