Lord, am I doing enough? We are to occupy until you come. I pray, but is that enough? I encourage people, but is that enough? When I hear of a need, I obey your leading in doing my part by filling it. But Lord, is that enough? My wondering thoughts shifted to, “I am not doing enough. What I’m doing doesn’t make any difference. The Lord must not be pleased.” My seeking the Lord had turned to questioning myself and focusing only on my insecurities. Shame and guilt appeared and stayed until the Lord restored peace and joy.
Jesus told his disciples, and tells us today, to believe. Believe that He can lead us to what He wants us to do. Believe that nothing we do in His name is too small and not to belittle the impact of our prayers, works of love, and labors of faith. Our primary purpose is to be a willing, available vessel in His hands; to rest in Him and obey as He leads.
What we do must be of God and through God. Works of faith by the Spirit, not dead works that are things done out of obligation or as a religious exercise. We believe, from glory to glory!
John 6:28-29 “Then they said to Him, ‘What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?’ Jesus answered and said to them, ‘This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.’”
