But as it is written: ‘Eyehas not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love him.’ But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. – 1 Cor. 2:9-10.

Our primary focus as children of God is to reach our spiritual potential. As we achieve it, we also fulfilled our potential in other areas. A potential is possible, but not yet actual. We have not yet achieved what we can become. It’s what we are capable of but have not yet accomplished. It’s the power to be and do something that has not yet manifested.

Our spiritual potential is our transformation into the image of Jesus, and we can only reach it by the power of the Holy Spirit. This power dwells in us and is available to us. Christ in us is the hope of glory. As we yield to who God is in us, who we are in Him becomes increasingly noticeable. With every level of transformation, we realize what was not yet, and trust Him for what is still to come.

The not yet gives us hope for our tomorrow and help us move away from our yesterday. We learn to be content in whatever state we are in, realizing that today was the not yet of yesterday and that the best is yet to come. We know there is more because of the unlimited potential we have in God. Even when we are not aware of it, Christ in us is being formed, from glory to glory!
