If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? – Luke 11:13

We can get so busy looking for answers from various resources that we neglect our number one resource: the Spirit of God. How often do we try to do things without asking for the Holy Spirit? It’s not intentional, just a result of our busyness. The act of intentionally turning to Him first needs to be practiced.

Apart from Him, whatever we accomplish falls short of our potential in Christ. Our achievements may seem satisfactory, but they can’t match up to what the Holy Spirit enables us to accomplish. Without Him, weariness and discouragement easily set in. He fuels our ability, strength, wisdom, and faith. Oh, how much to we need Him!

He provides us with power as He desires, but He also expects us to seek His aid. He is gentle like a dove, never forceful, and waits for us to ask for His help. Above all else, let’s ask for the Holy Spirit, welcome Him, and invite Him to take the lead.

Father, we ask for the Holy Spirit, humbly submitting to His mighty workings. Less of us, more of You, we pray, from glory to glory!
