Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: ‘Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily.’- Is. 28:16

Do we act hastily? When we say yes too quickly to someone’s appeal because we want to please them without knowing if it pleases the Lord, it can have unforeseen consequences. If, during a business transaction, we are told we have to decide right then and there or we will lose a deal–it must not be God’s best.

We put ourselves in a tough place when we must answer a request hastily, under pressure, without time to seek the Lord for His will on the matter. We need to ask the Lord for His wisdom, even if the time we have is brief. God will honor our wish to know His desire for our lives. People should respect our request to be led by God, even if they don’t understand it.

Sometimes, the Spirit of the Lord comes upon us suddenly and has us do or say things we don’t have time to think about. That is His doing. He purposely doesn’t want our reasoning to hinder His purpose. This differs from the decisions we make intentionally. Let’s allow the peace of God to lead us as we go slowly, not hastily, from glory to glory!
