The Lord helps us lay aside every hindering weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us in our glorious race. It is to be noted that sin easily ensnares us. Some actions and habits become addictive quickly. It requires no effort on our part and happens without our awareness. We notice their presence as their strength increases and they require more power than expected to overcome them.

The remedy is simple faith. It’s taking that first step not to do what we used to do and allowing the Holy Spirit to empower us to take the opposition into subjection. As easily as it started, it can stop when we let the Lord help us. The lie of our adversary is that it’s difficult and beyond our ability, but we can do all things through Christ.

In a race, the pressing through point is at the most difficult time when going forth appears impossible. At that moment, even though the muscles are burning with pain, we push through and suddenly find we can do it. We simply pursue the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus by pressing through, from glory to glory!

1 Corinthians 9:26-27 “Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.”
