Then he said, “Take the arrows,” so he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground,” so, he struck three times, and stopped. And the man of God was angry with him, and said, “You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck Syria till you had destroyed it! But now you will strike Syria only three times.”- 2 Kings 13:18-19
Joash struck the ground but stopped after the third time. Similarly, we should not stop doing what the Lord leads us to do until He tells us to stop. We do not quit; we stay on course. It’s not over until God says it’s over. We press through and do not grow weary in well doing.
We must shut out the voice of the enemy: “you are not a good shooter; you don’t have enough experience; you have done enough, stop now.” We cannot spend our time talking about the arrows, rearranging them, polishing them, and never shooting them. We must overcome insecurities and uncertainties, trusting the Lord with the results.
God empowers us to stand. As we seek His best, He helps us not settle for less. By His grace, we remain faithful with what is in our quiver and forgive ourselves for the arrows we did not shoot and those we think missed. Let’s give our best shot wholeheartedly to whatever we do. We do not quit. In Christ, whatever arrows we shoot by faith are always arrows of victory, from glory to glory!
