Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.” – Rom. 14:13
Criticizing, like comparing, can be very harmful when it is not constructive and doesn’t come intending to build up and edify. Constructive criticism always comes with love and tenderness. Criticism based on assumption, or wrong information, with sharp words and disapproval, tears down and hinders the walk of others.
It is important to only identify and mention faults and shortcomings to others when led by the Lord, in His way and in His timing. When others criticize us unfavorably or adversely, we must reject the spirit of offense. We take it to the Lord, ask Him to guide us into His truth, and leave it in His hands with our focus on Him.
We pray and trust the Holy Spirit to reveal areas He is changing in ourselves and in others. Who can do that better than the Holy Spirit? He reveals to heal. He convicts and does not condemn. Conviction brings us nearer to God, never away. It gives hope and comes with healing. It teaches and anoints for growth, from glory to glory!
