And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward. – Gen. 13:14
It was only after Abraham was separated from Lot that God showed Abraham the land he was going to possess. We often discover what God has prepared for us after we walk, by faith, past closed doors. The Spirit of God leads us to find closure to some things that have happened in our past so we can walk through His newly opened doors.
Even though past events may have happened long ago, some of their destructive consequences might still hinder us today. The past has the potential to hinder our future, so closure needs to be applied. Every if, and if only, must be left behind so that we are not. Closure comes as we walk in the newness of life we have in Christ.
New divine opportunities follow closed doors. We trust God even when we don’t understand the separations. Our past no longer has the power to affect our present. If we live our past repeatedly, we remain locked in our past. God shines the light in those areas so we can let them move forward, from glory to glory!
