Put on the New Man

Put on the New Man

“… that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.” – Eph. 4:22-24

To put on the new man means to invest in clothing, to sink into a garment. As we put on our divine identity by grace, through faith, we walk in its reality. This reality becomes what we reach for, not the old, which no longer has power or appeal. We put off the old man as we put on the new one. When satan lies to us about who we are, we quickly put on the garments of glory we have in Christ.

As I grew in my understanding of who I was in Christ Jesus, I couldn’t wear my miniskirts, low-cut tops, and tight clothing anymore. They felt like they belonged to someone else and no longer fit. Discovering what fit the new me began an exciting journey. My transformation is still in progress as I learn to put on Christ by faith and yield to my divine identity.

After the fall, Adam and Eve knew they were naked and immediately clothed themselves to hide. In Christ, our lives hide in Him, and He clothes us with His glory. We do not hide behind our humanity but abide in His divinity. We put off shame, guilt, and condemnation; and put on acceptance, forgiveness, freedom, and above all, love, from glory to glory!

The Truth Shall Make You Free

The Truth Shall Make You Free

Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.- John 8:32

We abide in the Word not just by reading it, but by communicating with the Living Word, Jesus Christ. As we learn truths, we grow in discipleship and long to hear His voice. We commune with Him and worship Him throughout our daily walk. The Spirit gives life to the written word and provides us with our daily bread. Hallelujah!

As we see a truth from the Word manifested in our lives, we become free from listening to the lies that oppose it. For example, we read the scripture that says God will meet our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus. When God provides, that truth becomes experiential knowledge, not just head knowledge. We stand on it in future battles.

When needed, we look for scriptures relating to what we are going through, meditate upon them, talk to the Lord about them, pray those scriptures, and stand on their truth until we walk in their manifestation. Faith in the Living Word frees us from fear. We praise the Lord, rest in Him, and with joy expect the Word to come alive in and through our lives,  from glory to glory!

Are You Bound in the Spirit

Are You Bound in the Spirit

And see, now I go bound in the Spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there, except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me. – Acts 20:22-23

The Apostle Paul saw bonds and afflictions waiting for him in Jerusalem, but he was resolute and determined to obey the Lord. Nothing could deter him. Even those around him could not dissuade him from going. He was so bound up in the Spirit of God that nothing else could capture him. In Christ, we too become bound up in the Spirit.

We become free, by the Spirit of God, from unacceptable bonds in our lives. By His grace, we learn to stand strong in the bonds we have with the Lord. We are bound to the covenant, to His purpose, to His anointing, to Him! We are so closely and inseparably connected with Him that anything incompatible gets disconnected. This could be a habit or an association that is not in agreement with who we are in Him and where we are heading.

In Christ, we go from liberty to liberty. Our relationships with others carry no obligation, dependency, control, or necessity. The spirit of control can no longer manipulate us, and the spirit of intimidation can no longer incapacitate us. When the Spirit of God removes the hindrances, He empowers us to walk in the supernatural, from glory to glory!

Fully Enjoy the Now!

Fully Enjoy the Now!

God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. – Ps. 46:1

Our adversary constantly tempts us to dwell on tomorrow’s potential heartaches and pains or remember those of our past. He does this to steal the joy we can experience in the here and now. Missing priceless moments and letting valuable times of happiness pass by often happens unknowingly. Let’s intentionally fully enjoy the now!

A spouse may not fully appreciate a loving embrace due to preoccupying thoughts about upcoming plans or a previous disagreement. We see this dynamic in many types of relationships. Unfortunately, we sometimes overlook the true significance of the many precious moments we spend with our loved ones. We might miss opportunities to witness to others because of our lack of focus. We don’t always appreciate our daily blessings.

What is happening around us right now? Do we enjoy people and conversations to the fullest by intentionally abiding in the present? Giving our full attention to what comes our way requires an intentional purpose of the heart and the enabling of the Spirit of Christ. As we seek the Lord in the now, He helps us enjoy His abundant blessings, moment by moment,  from glory to glory.

Do Not Stop Asking in Faith

Do Not Stop Asking in Faith

So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. – Luke 11:9

We do not stop asking in faith for God’s will. Even though we don’t always know what it is, we seek and knock in faith for it to manifest. We can trust that His answers will exceed our expectations. God’s promises are yes and amen in Christ Jesus. He opens and closes doors, orders our steps, and our stops. He teaches us His marvelous ways and blesses us with His best!

We keep praying because we delight in our communion with Him. Childlike faith and total trust in His loving care marks our communication. We can come to Him knowing He accepts us and answers our seeking hearts. We don’t have to beg or persuade Him. He loves us, cares for us, and understands. He never rejects or neglects His children.

One of satan’s lies is: “If God didn’t answer your prayer yet, stop asking. You will only be disappointed.” Fear of abandonment and fear of rejection are some of his most potent fiery darts. We must ignore these lies and never stop praying for God’s will. Let’s trust that He will do much more than we can ask or think,  from glory to glory!
