“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” – 2 Cor. 5:17
When we take the same way to a park, home, job, or any destination, after a while we lose the amazement. We no longer notice the beautiful trees, the flowers, the way the sun shines on specific areas, or how the streets look. We get accustomed to it and the surroundings that we used to enjoy become unseen. Does the familiar become so expected that we lose excitement?
It is also that way with people. We might no longer notice the good looks of our mate. A friend’s qualities we used to recognize and appreciate now go unnoticed. Because of the increase in electronics, some people become caught up in the digital world so much that the world around them becomes invisible.
As we acknowledge the Lord in all our ways, His Spirit releases freshness in our lives. He leads us to appreciate things anew and not take things for granted. He makes familiar things exciting again. He may not always bring new things, but He makes all things new. With gratitude, we intentionally pay attention to our surroundings. As we walk in love, we walk in newness, from glory to glory!
