…and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. – 1 Kings 19:12

A couple was facing a decision about buying a house and couldn’t decide between their four different options. Seeking advice from others only added to their confusion, even causing them to question whether they should make the purchase at all. Doubt and fear clouded their judgment, leading to indecision. This state of mind persisted for a few days until they distanced themselves from external opinions and turned to God for guidance. There, in that still place, God whispered to them, and led them with peace to the house He had intended for them.

When we prioritize seeking God’s wisdom, we can find reassurance that the counsel of others will confirm the leading in our hearts. When we seek others first instead of seeking God, our choices are not clear. We hear God’s answers in the quiet place. The still small voice of God comes gently and we hear it when we are still. God speaks so softly amid all the noise that surrounds us, we can barely detect His voice unless we separate ourselves from our environment.

God is teaching us to listen to His Will and inviting us to a more intimate relationship. Let us tune down all other sounds and stay tuned to His voice, from glory to glory!
