Knowing our divine identity in Christ helps us walk free from who we used to be apart from Christ. One thing we no longer have to deal with is shame.
Shame relates to our whole self being perceived as defective, rejected, damaged and not loved. We have the opposite in the Lord. We are new creations in Christ. We are accepted, loved and filled with His glory. Before we were born again, we experienced shame because we didn’t know the Lord. Traumatic events in our lives increased our self-perception of unworthiness.
Shame comes with a desire to hide or disappear. When Adam and Eve fell into sin, they hid themselves. Christ is now our hiding place. He helps us move out of hiding places our fleshy nature created. He restores our soul and gives us safety. We are free from the old; all things have become new!
It’s our whole being that has been forgiven. We are accepted in the Christ. He has made us righteous in Him. Since the old things have passed away, let’s try to rise up in our lives and walk forward as new, in the new, from glory to glory!
2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
