Chain Reaction

Chain Reaction

In taking thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ, we find that when the first thought is captured it will not lead to another. It’s a chain reaction, a sequence of reactions. If there are too many links in the chain, it can be difficult to pinpoint the lie. Our thoughts come in reaction to a situation, but they can be filtered through a wound from our past and be inaccurate. As we seek to walk in truth, we can trust the Holy Spirit to set us free.

Ungodly mindsets are removed as our mind is being renewed by the Word of God. Thinking on the truth of the Word takes the lie captive and removes it. Although we have the mind of Christ, our carnal mind has been used for so long that it comes forth naturally and hinders the release of the supernatural. As we continue to meditate on what is truth, the supernatural becomes the  natural, helping us walk in our divine identity.

If we find ourselves in a battle in our minds, we should ask the Lord to reveal and heal the thought that started it all. When we meditate on what the truths of the Lord untangle, the linked lies and chains are broken, from glory to glory!

Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.”

Testing

Testing

Because we have the Spirit of God dwelling in us, we are able to test the spirits that we encounter. It’s not only what comes through others that we are to test, but also what comes into our own mind.

The way to test the spirits is to ask, “Is that from you, Lord,” and wait for the answer. With the Spirit of God comes perfect peace, joy and security. We are to rebuke, in the name of Jesus, any thought that is not of the Spirit of God. The moment we test a thought, we take that thought captive for examination. Often, because so many thoughts have already been considered, we find our pressing through must be intensified in order to break through. It’s what is not obviously wrong that is the most challenging. A seducing spirit tempts people with what appears to be a great idea, but it’s not God’s. The key is in our heart of obedience.

We are willing, and we desire to obey God so we may walk in His perfect will. We take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, no matter what it is. As we daily submit all to the Lord and trust the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth, we find we are able to take every thought captive and some of the battles we had in our mind no longer exist. We are moving forward, from glory to glory!

1 John 4:1 “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”
