The Lord told the disciples that when they go into a city to heal the sick, and are rejected, to shake the dust off their feet. He said the Kingdom would come near them anyway. In other words, rejection cannot hinder the release of what comes from God. It is manifested, whether it is received or not. When it’s not received, it hinders people from walking in what God brings to them, but it never diminishes the reality of God.
When the spirit of rejection moves through others to us, we feel inadequate, inferior and insecure. It’s our adversary, satan, who is the author of such lies. Through his lies, fueled with fear, he tempts us to believe we are rejected by God and other people. The spirit of antichrist comes against the truth. The truth is: we are accepted in the beloved, Jesus the Christ. All that pertains to the Lord is released through us, everywhere we go and in whatever we do. God loves us, is for us, and through Christ, we can do all things.
In and through Christ, we are secure and able. Others might refuse to accept who Christ is, but we submit to who He is. We accept who we are in Him. We do not hesitate to allow the Holy Spirit to move through us. We shake the dust off our feet because our feet carry His glory with every step. We do not let rejection shake us; we shake it off, from glory to glory!
Luke 10:8-11 “Whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you. And heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ But whatever city you enter, and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say, ‘The very dust of your city which clings to us we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this that the kingdom of God has come near you.’ ”
As unity is increasing among us, insecurity in relationships is being eliminated. Insecurity is part of our “old” man, who we are in Adam, before being born again and being a new creature in Christ. The more secure we are in our relationship with God, the more secure we can be in our relationship with others. Through the grace and love of God, we walk in newness of life.
Insecurity causes people to assume and receive rejection, build walls and try to control others. It feeds their fear of losing what they have because deep down they do not trust they really have it. It disables intimacy and steals joy. It causes people to have faith one day and fear the next. In our security with Christ, insecurity is defeated. Relationships will not remain the same, but our position in Christ will never change. Others will not always be responsive to our love but we love regardless.
The love of God conquers all and destroys the walls that have been built. We unconditionally love, care and unite with one another. No matter what the changes are in relationships, it can never change our bonds in Christ. We are accepted in God, even when rejected by others. We are loved by God, even when disliked by others. We are safe in the Lord, even when threatened by others. We dwell in security in the Lord, from glory to glory!
Ephesians 1:5-7 “…having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.”
When we are rejected serving the Lord, we are to shake the dust off our feet and walk with more surety in our steps. We trust that what we do in the name of Jesus will bear much fruit. Our aim is not to be successful, but to remain faithful.
Our heart is to be pleasing unto God, not others; not to look for human approval or seek praises of men—but seek the Lord and His Kingdom above all things. Shaking the dust off our feet means we do not receive what is of the flesh, and we release the heavenly. We forgive others. We do not let humanity hinder our stepping into divinity. What others may think of us does not define who we are, and it does not affect what we do because we know we are in Christ. Rejection tries to cling to our feet to slow down our progress. We wipe it off against our adversary and see his plans come to nothing. Instead of dust on our feet, we walk away filled with glory.
How awesome is the Lord! We don’t have to receive rejection; we can reject it because of our election in God. We release the glory of the Lord everywhere our feet tread; and we never carry rejection with us to the next place. We do not need to remain in places where we are not received, but we can move forward from glory to glory!
Luke 10:8-11 Whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you. And heal the sick there, and say to them, “The kingdom of God has come near to you.” But whatever city you enter, and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say, “The very dust of your city which clings to us we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near you.”
The way we act at times may not be understood by others, but our Lord gets it! He knows why we reacted the way we did; why we were hurt by what was said; why we laughed so hard at that one happening; why we wept for joy in His presence; He gets it!
God Almighty loves us so much that our past, present and future ways are always understood; whatever it was in our yesterday that caused our behavior of today, is clear to Him. As He transforms us, He heals the areas that bring wrong behaviors, and He protects our traits that make us so unique. With full knowledge of who we are, the Lord rejoices over us. He comprehends the who, the why, the when and the how of all we are.
Many times when we are misunderstood by others, we feel rejected, but the moment we rest assured that God gets it, we feel accepted and loved. As we delight ourselves in the Lord, He gives us new desires and increases the ones He had already placed in our hearts. These desires also cause us not to behave like everyone else, because these desires are not satisfied with where we are. As we grow spiritually and the natural realm is no longer our focus, people around us don’t understand; they don’t get it. What happened? The Lord got us. He gets it because He got us. Everything that pertains to us… He got it! Hallelujah! Now we get it, from glory to glory!
Psalms 139:14 “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.”
