Safe?

Safe?

How can we walk in safety in an unsafe world? In certainty in the midst of uncertainty? In love in the midst of hate? In peace in the midst of despair? How can we remain stable in the midst of so much instability?

Without a sense of security, we easily give way to doubt and fear. News of catastrophic events, terrorist attacks and natural disasters understandably adds fear to our sorrow. A positive outlook becomes difficult when the unexpected trials increase in frequency. The tardiness of a loved one stirs up worry and anxiety. A negative doctor’s report quickly brings thoughts of possible death. Even a high school graduate hesitates at the pursuit of higher education because of the uncertainty of his future. Jesus is our only hope. He enables us to remain unshakable.

When we turn to the Lord, we find He becomes a shelter we can count on in all circumstances. We can rest secure in His loving care. As our focus stays on Him, our security in Him grows. Our insecurities disappear as we see He always appears in our time of need. How faithful is our God!  We look back on God’s protection in unsafe situations and trust Him, from glory to glory!

Psalms 61:3-4 “For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy.”

Remember?

Remember?

Sometimes others forget what has been done for them. They only remember the most recent interaction. If we helped someone before and they ask us to do so again, the answer might be no based on our current situation. Their reaction shouldn’t be as though we never assisted them.  They only remember the last no, not the previous yes. Even though others might forget, we should not, especially when it comes to God.

Does it ever appear God’s response to our requests is negative? Disappointment and anger cloud our perception. We don’t understand why God allows hurtful events. The way God works all things together for the good of those who love Him is not obvious at the time. Remembering how the Lord brought us out of difficult situations strengthens us to trust Him to do so, again and again.

As we recollect as far back as our salvation, we realize if He gave us eternal life, surely His answer to what we face exceeds our expectations. We know some of what the Lord has done, much we don’t know until after the fact, if at all. Recalling the goodness and faithfulness of God helps us to praise Him, from glory to glory!

Psalms 61:3-4 “For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy.”
