Moment by moment we walk in renewal transforming into the image of Christ. Whatever we see in ourselves, or others, that still needs to be changed; we can trust it will be changed. We are not yet the way we will be, but surely we are not the way we were. This and that might have been yesterday, but now we are in Christ and we walk in newness of life, step by step.
When we are born again, all things are new. Before, we were free from righteousness, but now, we are free from sin. The law had us bound, but now we are delivered from the law. We were far from God, but now we are near. We were in darkness, but now we are in light. We walked in sin, but now we put off the works of darkness. The mystery of the Christ abiding in us was hidden, but now it is revealed. We had not obtained mercy, but now we have mercy.
In our daily walk, we are confronted with the opposites of these truths. All things that are contrary to our divine identity are conquered through the grace of the Lord. We pursue, trusting the not yet. Before, when we were going through trials, we didn’t know how to stand; but now, trial by trial, we go from triumph to triumph and from glory to glory!
1 Peter 2:10 “…who once were not a people, but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.”
There is a process we must go through to attain all we seek to possess. Patience and perseverance are needed, and faith is tested when it is a long process. Knowing that we always progress helps us stay on course and stand by faith.
The process differs for each one of us, and it may be an unknown. We might think we have completed all that is necessary to reach a destination, and then find we have yet another step. Closures we thought we had might turn out to be continued matters. Also, our perception of our starting point might not be accurate. The where from is important in assessing the direction we are taking to a finishing point. Our progress becomes evident as we look at where we have come from, not at the place we have not yet reached. We never assume we have already arrived. Humbly we trust the Lord’s leading, moment by moment.
In the Lord, each phase is an achievement in itself. Our process is connected to our transformation in Christ, and we can rest assured of our progress. We are ready in and out of season. Every development we encounter draws us closer to Christ, our ultimate objective. We learn to enjoy the journey with peace, truly, from glory to glory!
