Out of Oppression?

Out of Oppression?

How do we conquer oppression? When it affects us, it’s so crushing we feel as though we are under a truck. We find ourselves stuck, unable to lift it off and incapacitated by its overpowering presence.

Under such weight, we might not recognize what’s happening. What is wrong with us? Why is it difficult to function?  Why are we not walking in love, joy and peace and suddenly experiencing the opposite? Because we are under spiritual attack! Many things happen in our lives that may cause worry, fear and discouragement. The difference with spiritual oppression is that every area of our lives is affected. Despair, depression and fear are intensified and lead us to isolate ourselves. The moment we become aware we are under spiritual oppression, we can only reclaim our freedom by reaching out to the Lord.

First we reach out to the Lord’s hand of deliverance. We lay hold of His Saving Word. He shows us who to call upon for prayer. We also are lifted up out of our place of oppression as we pray for others in need. In the midst of our situation we look around us for those who need a helping hand. When we are weak, God is strong. The enemy cannot hold us down when we hold someone else up. We reach above and beyond, from glory to glory!

1 Kings 19:9  “And there he went into a cave, and spent the night in that place; and behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and He said to him, ‘What are you doing here, Elijah?’”

High and Lifted Up!

High and Lifted Up!

One way we discern the spirits is by looking for Jesus in all that is said and done. Is Jesus lifted up? Is He glorified? Is what is said something He would say? Is what is done something He would do? After it is said and done, are we feeling encouraged, exhorted, and edified?

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. When we feel oppressed, fearful and defeated it is not of God. We recognize faith vs. fear by detecting flesh vs. Spirit. Anything that comes to elevate anyone is not of God. We have to guard against words that tell us we will be famous; we are called to the nations! Of course personal prophecy will relate to us and will say things about us, but the focus will be about who the Lord is and what He will do in and through us. It’s never about how great we are, but always how great He is.

Does what we are hearing identify with “self” or “Him?” It is important to identify who is being exalted. The enemy, satan, comes to lift up flesh and feed the ego of man. The Holy Spirit always comes to lift up Jesus! When the Lord is being glorified, we grow in faith and grace and are lifted to a place of worshipping Him! More of Him is the fruit we look for in every situation, from glory to glory!

John 16:14-15 “He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.”
