God leads us by His peace. The peace of God is to lead our decision making, and the Word of God tells us that peace should rule in our hearts. The Greek word, brabeuo, means to determine, direct and control; an umpire. This rule is so powerful it helps us know what steps to take going forward in obeying the Lord.
How can we recognize this amazing peace of God? First of all, it passes all understanding. We can’t reason or explain it, but it is in our heart and mind in such a way that we know it is God leading us. No matter how much turbulence is around us, we have peace. The security, safety and the tranquil state the Lord gives us is truly supernatural. We sit still in the presence of the Lord and listen; what does our heart tell us? The peace of God will be an umpire in our heart, saying, Go! Stop! Danger! Safety!
Listening to the Lord’s leading in our heart differs from listening to our own thoughts. In making decisions, the Word and the Spirit will always be in agreement. Even when others have no peace, our peace will rule in us over all else. Only God will control us and when God is in control His peace rules, and as our coach He directs us accordingly. We quiet all other voices and listen closely for the presence of this wonderful ruling, from glory to glory!
Colossians 3:15 “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.”
