To recognize means to identify someone or something from a previous encounter; to know again. It also means to identify from knowledge of appearance or character. The anointing is the manifestation of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, the more we know the Holy Spirit, the easier it is to identify what is anointed–what comes from the Holy Spirit.
We develop our relationship with the Holy Spirit by spending time in fellowship, prayer and worship. We learn to know His voice through our reading and hearing of the word of God. As born again believers we have the Holy Spirit in us; therefore the anointing is in us and bears witness from within. We become acquainted with the way He leads, and we are able to discern and recognize His ways.
Many times we may find ourselves in a situation where some people are doing things of the flesh… and others by the spirit. As we recognize what is of the flesh, we recognize the leading of the Holy Spirit. We would not be able to recognize the false without the truth. We can trust the leading of the Holy Spirit as we keep our eyes on Him, and Him alone, from glory to glory!
John 16:13 “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”
