Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, and we must care for our bodies because we are not our own. As we consecrate ourselves to God, we glorify Him in our body and in our Spirit. We surrender to Him what already belongs to Him.
A surgeon makes sure the scalpel he uses is sanitized and prepared for surgery. Likewise, the sanctification of the Holy Spirit prepares our bodies to be fit for the Master’s use. Knowing we belong to Him, and are not our own, helps us yield to Him so the Holy Spirit will not be quenched and He is free to do what only He can do. Our bodies are like precious instruments God has placed in our care. If someone gave us a million dollars, or any other great treasure, to watch over, we would handle it with care and it would change the way we do many things. We need to watch over our bodies with even greater care.
We yield to the owner and make the right choices regarding what goes in, out or close to our bodies. Daily we walk in new mercies and receive cleansing from the top of our heads to the soles of our feet. We are glory carriers! We have a treasure in us that is priceless. As we pursue our spiritual potential, we realize that our souls and bodies are made whole with every transforming touch, from glory to glory!
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
