In addition to comparing and criticizing, complaining hinders our moving forward. A murmuring complaining spirit is displeasing to the Lord. It is normal to express grief and sorrow or share something that is happening in our lives. It is not normal to grumble, accuse, blame, speak negatively and not acknowledge anything positive.
It is even more destructive when complaining about people and not things. It leads to gossip and fuels the works of the enemy. Complaining comes from a spirit of fear which is conquered as the Lord brings freedom. When we want to help those who are being battled in this area, we should lead them to the awareness of what the Lord has done. We shine the light in the darkness and lift them up with affirming words of life, hope and trust. We encourage them through the expression of our faith.
We are to be thankful in all things. Gratitude is to be a daily attitude. We overcome evil with good. When we are around negativity, let’s be the positive. We hold fast what is good, from glory to glory!
1 Thessalonians 5:18-21 “…in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things, hold fast what is good.”
What we give to others is not always valued and cared for as it should be. We might also take for granted what others give to us. Gifts are to be unconditional. As we grow in Christ we learn to recognize and value all that was given to us by God. Such love is priceless.
We believe and receive what we have been graced with in the Lord with gratitude and appreciation. As we discover these gifts, we cherish even more the greatest gift: love. We are humbled by this love because we do not feel worthy of such amazing grace. It is the springboard of all other gifts that are essential to minister to others and brings healing to our soul. God desires for us to fully enjoy His blessings. We can fully accept such a precious gift only through precious faith. We receive what He has done for us by faith, and walk in Him the same way, by faith.
Faith works by love. We are established in the faith as we are grounded in love. As we receive and move by faith in what He has accomplished, we fulfill our purpose. We have a paid for tag on our lives. When we think we do not have enough, we remember He paid it all. All we are belongs to Him; all we need is met by Him according to His riches, from glory to glory!
Colossians 2:6-7 “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him, and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.”
