The battles we face are with spiritual forces; we do not war against flesh and blood. We might fight with those around us not discerning our real enemy, which is unseen. It is helpful to discern this is happening quickly, so time is not wasted battling the wrong things. God sees what we do not see, and He protects us as we seek Him and continue to surrender all our ways.
Diversity will come with adversity. We don’t always see the enemy because he surprises us in areas where we are not used to warring. We know our weak areas and are accustomed to battling there. Temptations will come in unknown territories. Some things might appear harmless at first and then become strongholds. We should be watching on all sides, especially our blind side. Our enemy doesn’t make his schemes obvious; He is deceitful and often closer than we think. The Lord gives us the faith to face all confrontation.
Attacks will come unexpectedly and from different sources. We should take heed where we stand, lest we fall. When a harmful situation is detected, we humbly and quickly move away from its potential destruction and run to the Lord–reaching out for His grace. God gives grace to the humble but resists the proud. When the invisible is encountered, we find that only Christ is invincible. We war by His grace and power alone, from glory to glory!
Ephesians 6:12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
It is difficult to go through any situation when we see the enemy trying to bring division. We do not war against flesh and blood, and those involved don’t always perceive what is happening spiritually. Regardless of others, we handle situations discerning the real war and walking in love.
Battles are won by receiving love, forgiveness and acceptance from the Lord—and praying the same for others. Rejection feeds insecurities, increases fears, and hinders confidence. The release of others into the hand of the Lord is attained by trusting the Lord with the outcome. We forgive others even if they don’t forgive us. Our love is unconditional. We pray for the Lord to reveal to us what healing we need in our own hearts, and what thoughts need to be taken captive. We ask Him for His ability to forbear (put up with) one another. By faith, we put on Christ, put off the old man; put up with one another and in doing so put out all the fires hindering the fire of the Holy Spirit.
As the elect of God, we elect to put on love, the bond of perfection. It bonds and knits together all the interaction that takes place between one another. Our pursuit of peace and unity is unceasing, from glory to glory!
Colossians 3:12-14 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if one has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
We are winning the battle of words: standing on the truth of the Word of God instead of giving up because of the lies we might be hearing. Sometimes even words that are not spoken, but implied, are just as powerful. We fight the good fight of faith, not of fear. It is for the Word’s sake that the battle rages.
We come against the lies by speaking the truth. We must be determined to take negative thoughts captive quickly by saying the truth aloud, instead of thinking the lie quietly. We cannot even consider the lies to be a possibility. It comes to test us: What are we going to say to that? Will we continue to speak life, or will we bite the bait and say things we shouldn’t say? Satan seeks whom he may devour. He hears what we say, and if it is in one accord with his lies, he devours the Word of life we have received thereby hindering our purpose and bringing oppression. God is watching over His word to perform it, and He empowers our tongues to express the victory we possess.
We go forth in the name of Jesus and declare His Word of Truth. As words of life are released, words of death are brought down to nothing. God’s Word builds up, edifies, and exhorts the hearers and the speakers. We speak life from glory to glory!
Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.”
