A Choice

A Choice

As we grow in Christ, we find many choices we made in our past were incorrect and unhealthy. The choices we made pertaining to what we allowed to “feed us” needed to be reversed by making the right choices in these areas.

Through our eyes, ears and mouth we processed and allowed things to enter our beings that became difficult habits to break. God, through fasting and prayer, enables us to make choices that glorify Him and help us — not harm us. We learn to make better choices when we eat, turn on the TV, join a conversation, fellowship or any of the other decisions we make every day. We learn to make right choices in what we allow in our lives. Instead of focusing on the wrong choices made in the past, we choose today, and day-by-day, what is best for us.

Along the way we will still make some wrong choices, but when that happens, it’s important to keep moving forward. The enemy attempts to bring guilt and condemnation, which, if received can lead us to make more wrong choices. All choices are opportunities to make a change in our lives. We align our will, decide to do or not do this or that, as the Lord leads. Only by the grace of God can we keep walking in the newness He brings about, from glory to glory!

Romans 13:14 “But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.”

Beginnings

Beginnings

Every season is a season of new beginnings with God. God delights in leading us in new ways so  we know and experience Him like never before. A beginning is a time when something comes into being. In Christ, all things have become new and we find our paths are laid with wonderful blessings.

Knowing our origin helps us trust our destination and enjoy the journey. Day by day we have the opportunity, and the mercy, to walk in the new and living way Christ made for us. We come to crossroads where we have to make choices, and find that in the Lord we now have options we didn’t have before. We can forgive and be forgiven, and be free to start fresh in our relationships. We can love and be loved in ways never before experienced. No matter what it is from our past that keeps trying to get in our way, we walk in Christ; the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Because of our glorious beginning, we can depend on our glorious ending: eternal life. We belong to God and we come from Him. We are born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. He is the beginning and the end! We delight in His way and know the Lord upholds us with His hands, from glory to glory!

Psalms 37:23-24 “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the LORD upholds him with His hand.”

Facing the Fire

Facing the Fire

When adversity places us in a fiery furnace, how do we handle the heat? How do we have the faith to face the fire? One of the keys is to look upon the Lord, our Deliverer, trusting that He is with us in the fire. We cannot handle the heat without Him. He is upholding us with His eyes fixed on every detail in our lives.

We have different choices during trying times. We can look at what caused the fire; look at the fire itself; look at ourselves in that fire; or, look at the Lord who is with us in the fire. The more we look at the cause, the fire or ourselves–the more we will feel defeated and fearful. It doesn’t mean that we ignore the fire we are in. It means that we come face to face with the Lord first, focus on Him and then look at the situation as He leads. As the Lord is magnified, all else diminishes.

We can serve the Lord and stand against all pressure to bow down to the enemy’s ways, because we belong to our God and have been delivered from the hands of the enemy. When all we see is the Lord, we can walk with His peace guarding our hearts and minds. Though we walk in the shadow of death, we fear no evil because God is with us. The enemy looks at the way we walk in the fire, and when he sees that the Lord is with us he knows he cannot win. He knows he has lost and the Lord is watching over us, from glory to glory!

Daniel 3:16-17 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, ‘O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king.’

A New Beginning?

A new beginning is an opportunity to start over again. It’s entering into a season without the same ingredients that were in existence in the last season. It is a clear path with no obstacles created by the wrong choices we made the last time around. It’s being able to try again with assets which were added since the last attempt. In Christ, we can walk in new beginnings daily.

A lack of forgiveness will hinder our walking in a new beginning. When we don’t forgive others, or ourselves, we actually tie ourselves to the past. It’s like being chained to the offense. No matter where we try to go, we cannot move because we are stuck. The same way we receive forgiveness from God, we forgive others: by His grace. To forgive one action or another brings a needed repetition of what needs to be done at once. We take the whole person and give them to the Lord. We leave them in His caring hands and receive His ability to let go, never to pick up the offense again.

Because of God’s grace, forgiveness and mercy, we can move forward in newness of life at any time. What a blessing! A new beginning, day by day, from glory to glory!

2 Corinthians 2:10-11 Now whom you forgive anything, I also forgive. For if indeed I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven that one for your sakes in the presence of Christ, lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.
