In the midst of adversity we may be tempted to put our eyes on the problems, issues, hurdles or hardships we face. Instead, focus on Him and we will find the comfort and hope we seek as we see the Lord watching us with His loving care.
Keeping our eyes on the Lord helps us magnify Him and His promises, not the problems. Our encouragement comes when we see that He sees us. It means we are important to Him. He sees us and knows everything there is to know about our situations. He doesn’t see us wondering what He can do for us, but He sees the answer He has sent forth materializing in our lives. He watches over us, caring for each one of us because we are “the apple of His eye.”
As an “apple of His eye,” we are weak and tender. We can be bruised, hurt and in pain from even the smallest bump. We are careful because we do not want to be hurt. God sees, protects and preserves us from more than we know. As long as we see that He sees us, we can walk by faith and not by sight. In our weakened state under adverse conditions, God’s affection for us is amazing. He cares for us, protects us, and hides us under the shadow of His wings, from glory to glory!
Genesis 16:13 Then she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees; for she said, “Have I also here seen Him who sees me?”
Ultimately, in the millennium, Jesus Christ will rule the earth as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Even though we are waiting for this promise to be fulfilled, we still can see the increase of the government that is upon His shoulders. He is our living King now, continuing the establishment of His Kingdom through us, the citizens and believers.
When we see people give their lives to the Lord and walk free from a life of bondage, we see they are now governed by God. When we see loving Christians care for others, helping, praying and sharing the light of Christ in the midst of darkness, we see they are governed by God. When we hear of many sharing the gospel, even leaving great careers and moving to other countries to do so, we know they are governed by God. When they go through hardships and still praise and worship the Lord, we know they are governed by God. We are encouraged because we see others believe and follow Jesus, the Head of the Body of Christ, our King.
We walk in hope, joy, peace, justice, grace and mercy as Jesus leads and empowers us by His Spirit to proclaim the gospel of salvation in every place. Our citizenship is in heaven and as we pray, “let it be done on earth as it is in heaven,” the Kingdom is established. His glory is being spread over all the earth. No matter what trials and tribulations we go through in the process, we keep our eyes on our King and what is eternal, from glory to glory!
Isaiah 9:6-7 “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end; Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.”
