Above All

Above All

The Word of God tells us to take the shield of faith, above allAbove all does not mean first in importance; it means covering all. The shield of faith covers all the pieces of the armor of God. Every part of the armor corresponds to a truth we have in Christ, and our faith in that truth keeps that truth secured at all times.

The fiery darts often come against the helmet of salvation, the belt of truth and the breastplate of righteousness. The thoughts that come against the truth of the gospel are darts that have the potential to hinder our walk of faith. What we believe in each of these areas tells us which shield we need. The Word of God is the truth we declare and the sword of the Spirit. As we walk in fullness, every area is covered. We declare what we believe in our hearts confessing our Lord who covers all areas for total impact.

In areas where our faith needs to be increased, the Lord will reveal the appropriate truth in His word to help us grow from faith to faith. There are times when loved ones hide behind another’s faith, but only until it’s time for them to have their own shield of faith. Everyone has to believe for themselves, and the Lord is faithful to bring us all to completion, from glory to glory!

Ephesians 6:16 “… above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.”

Breaking Through

Breaking Through

Our God can defeat the enemy no matter where, how or when he attacks. It’s often at unexpected times, from unexpected directions and in unexpected ways. We trust our God to deliver us out of difficulties in due time and enable us to stand in the meantime.

Our God enables us to run against a troop and leap over a wall, but we have to be careful not to try to run against a wall and leap over a troop. Directions from the Lord are clear and specific. To run against the troops coming against us means to break through them. It’s prevailing. We go to them and break them in pieces in the name of Jesus before they come to us. We are on the offensive, enforcing the victory Jesus won on the cross. He disarmed principalities and powers, triumphed over them, and made a show of them openly. To leap over a wall means to subdue fortified places. We take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. When our cupboards are empty, we believe God will supply all our needs. When war breaks out on every side, we break through in Jesus name!

By faith, through Christ, we overcome. God is our refuge and our strength so we fear no foe. We meet adversity with courage, not looking at the troop or the wall; but looking to God, through whom we can do all things, from glory to glory!

Psalms 18:29 “For by You I can run against a troop, By my God I can leap over a wall.”
