After we surrender ourselves to the Lord, we are tested in our willingness to surrender other things that are dear to us. To surrender means to yield or give up one’s self, or give a possession into the hands of another. We can surrender all to the Lord as our trust in Him increases, from faith to faith.
God often leads us to surrender what can potentially have more power over us than it should. To have to give up harmful things is obvious. What is not, is doing so with the blessings He places in our hands: our mate, children, vocation, ministry, our home or promises we prayed for and received. When Abraham offered up Isaac the son He loved, in obedience to God, He walked in the faith that we are led to walk in many times in our lives: the faith that counts on God in all situations. Abraham counted on the power of God to raise Isaac. Not only did he know God could do it, he also had the faith that He would do it.
In our hearts we continue surrendering all things to God, and find we walk free from bondages at the same time. We leave in His hands what He places in ours, trusting He holds us in His. We can trust Him, always, from glory to glory!
Hebrews 11:17-19 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said, “In Isaac your seed shall be called,” concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he also received him in a figurative sense.
