A man had a war in his mind that was intensifying. The more he tried to control his thoughts, the more they multiplied. He had thoughts of defeat, despair and destruction. He’d lost his job and all he could see ahead of him was additional loss. His mind was telling him, “Next I’m going to lose my house, my wife, and my car. My future is over. I’m a failure and a loser.”
These thoughts were raging in his mind, but as he was ministered to he began to focus on Jesus. Immediately, everything shifted. He knew Jesus was his provider, his helper, and his savior. Whatever he was facing, the Lord was with him and able to deliver him. Despair was replaced with hope. It can be challenging to take negative thoughts captive, but it is achieved as we think on Jesus. Praises start the moment we focus on His goodness, His love, His faithfulness, and all He is as our Lord. As we think on who He is, what He can do becomes clear. We look up when we feel down!
What we find in Him, we can meditate on: things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report. We think on things that are above and not beneath. We pray for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven; that’s where our hearts are and we expect the Kingdom to manifest in greater degree, from glory to glory!
Colossians 3:1-2 “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.”
