Our perception of what someone says or does may not be accurate because we filter it through experiences. An assumption based on perception can lead to deception. As we submit ourselves to the Lord, we surrender our thoughts to Him and receive His truth by faith. Humility brings safety.
We should take nothing personal. Many times, when people speak, they are expressing what they perceive regarding what pertains to them. Often, it is not to describe who the other person is or isn’t; it is more to explain who they are or are not. When in doubt, it’s important to ask the other person, “When you said this, this is what I heard; is that what you meant?”, the answer of truth will remove a wrong perception and bring peace.
We not only take our thoughts captive but also the thoughts of others. As the Holy Spirit transforms us into the image of Christ, we can know the truth of God. We take the thoughts captive by replacing them with the truths. The moment the lies come, we declare the truth and walk in victory, from glory to glory!
2 Corinthians 10:3-6 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
