A husband comes home late and his wife accuses him of cheating; her insecurity and jealousy tries to stir up a heated argument. An occasion that could bring destruction suddenly becomes an opportunity for the Lord to be glorified when the husband calmly reaches out to his wife with love and takes authority over the situation. The enemy’s endeavor is defeated and the Lord’s glory is reflected.
When something happens that would have caused us to become angry in the past, we remain peaceful and see God’s glory. When the character of Christ comes forth in our behavior, He is glorified in our lives. Oppositions and hindrances to our walk of peace are opportunities for us, and others, to see how much we have been changed into the image of the Lord. In the way we face confrontation the work of sanctification of the Holy Spirit can be seen and its increase realized.
We also see areas where we are still in need of transformation. Our focus needs to be on what the Lord has already done, not on what still needs to be accomplished. We can trust Him for what is lacking when we realize the amazing changes He has already brought forth in our character. We can also extend grace and mercy to others for surely we have been given much and desire more, from glory to glory!
Romans 13:13-14 “Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.”
