Do we welcome the new? We have become accustomed to many elements in our lives, so we reach forth and desire them because that’s all we ever experienced. In God, we can walk in newness of life.
When we are used to partaking of the old, we do not desire the new. If all we had eaten was hot dogs, and never had a steak, we would not desire the steak. When the time comes for a child to stop drinking milk, he does not know he is being prepared to eat solid food, nor that he will have a full set of teeth to do so! As a child of God, we discover new things that pertain to the blessings we have in Him; though we will not always recognize it. We may think the old is better because we are used to it. It takes courage to partake of the new.
We cannot change the steps we took yesterday, nor know our tomorrows, but we can step into the now that is right ahead of us by the Spirit of God. We have new wineskins; the old no longer fits. No matter what the new is, we can trust that it is better, from glory to glory!
Luke 5:37-39 “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved. And no one, having drunk old wine, immediately desires new; for he says, ‘The old is better.’”
