We walk in who we are in Christ doing His works, His will and His way; and this newness of life may offend those around us. This offense comes from unbelief and may cause the rejection of many blessings. Jesus could not do many mighty works in His own house, in His own town, because those who knew him in the natural didn’t receive Him walking in the supernatural.
People may reject who we are in Christ because they know who we used to be, before we received Christ as Lord and Savior. Familiarity brings unbelief when we do not see others through the eyes of the Lord. Obeying the leading of the Lord and stepping forth in His name may be offensive for those closest to us. Unbeknownst to them, they are not rejecting us but blessings from the Lord through us, as we minister showers of glory upon their lives. This rejection is an objection to the unction of the Lord. The manifestation of Christ is often quenched because of offense.
Only the Holy Spirit can reveal who we are in Christ and remove rejection, offense and unbelief. He enables us to continue our ministry of reconciliation regardless of responses. We obey the leading of the Spirit of God and never base the fruit on what we see but on who we know, from glory to glory.
Matthew 13:57-58 “So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, ‘A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.’ Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.”
